New Staff Addition at Marshall & Marshall

Stephen P. “Pat” Dumas, Co-owner of Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors, recently announced that Steve Moore, licensed funeral director and embalmer, has joined the staff of the 92 year old family-run funeral firm.  Pat noted that Steve’s family has deep Texas roots, having been in Texas for six generations in Hill, Tarrant, Johnson and Ellis Counties.  

During his junior year in high school, Steve began his 34 year funeral service career by washing cars for his local funeral home.  In 1986, he earned an A.A.S degreee from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and later also earned a B.S. degree from Southwestern A/G University of Waxahachie in 2003.  For nearly 15 years, he worked in the Washington, D.C. area before moving to Texas in 1997.  Most recently, he served as manager of Cornerstone Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Steve, his wife Brenda and their son Brenden have been residents of Hillsboro since 2013 and are members of Central Baptist Church.  Among his many interests, Steve especially enjoys working with the youth at the Hill County Fair and in his spare time, painting in oils and acrylics.  He stated, “I look forward to continuing to serve the families of Hill County in my new capacity with Marshall & Marshall, expanding my existing relationships and building new ones, while continuing my career of service.”

Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors with locations in Hillsboro and Whitney has been serving Hill County and Central Texas since 1923.  They are the only family and locally-owned funeral homes in Hill County.

Marshall & Marshall Hillsboro Receives Award

Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro was recently presented the 2014 Five-Star Funeral Home Service Registration Award by the Texas Department of State Health Services - Vital Statistics Unit.  This marks the second year in a row that Marshall & Marshall has received this honor.  

This recognition is based on timely and accurate filing of death certificates with the Vital Statistics Unit.  Marshall & Marshall was one of only 29 funeral homes statewide receiving the award for 2014.

Joni Boman, Administrative Assistant for Marshall & Marshall was instrumental in meeting the criteria necessary to be recognized.  She stated, “This was a team honor, obtained with the help and support of the Marshall & Marshall staff, local medical personnel, Justices of the Peace and their staffs, and the Hill County Clerk’s office, all of whom helped us to meet the goals for accuracy and timeliness in filing death certificates.”
