Bennie Gonzalez, Sr.

Bennie Flores Gonzalez, Sr., 82, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 26, 2019, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory with Father Ouseph Thekkumthala as celebrant. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Bennie was born on March 11, 1937, in Lexington, Texas to Elmer and Mary (Flores) Gonzalez. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bennie proudly served in the Marines for nine years. Later, Bennie worked for Lebus Manufacturing in Longview, Texas, where he retired. When not working, Bennie enjoyed fishing and loved to be outdoors.

Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings, Marie Leyendecker, Elvira Gonzalez, Olivia Hernandez, Joe Gonzalez, and Pete Gonzalez.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Evelyn Gonzalez; sons, Bennie Gonzalez, Jr. and Lee R. Gonzales; sisters, Flora Hall and Juanita Flores; stepchildren, Larry, Gary, Terry and Greg Moore; 3 grandchildren, Miguel, Lee, Jr., and Jacob Gonzales; numerous other grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
