A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas.

He was born on June 11, 1932 in Abilene, Texas to Newton and Ruby (Ivy) Tekell.  As a young child, Charles’ family relocated to Hill County where he was able to grow up and eventually build a foundation for his own family’s home. He married Rebecca “Becky” Sue Hill of Whitney on July 18, 1953.  Together, they were blessed with a large and loving family and raised five children on their family farm in Itasca.

Charles was a member of the United States Army and was stationed for a time at Ladd Air Force Base in Alaska serving as a Firefighter.  He served on the Itasca School Board, Files Valley Water Supply Board, and on the Itasca Grain Co-op Board. He was an active member and dedicated deacon of Walnut Street Baptist Church.

Charles was a generous farmer who not only grew food for his own family, but shared many of the crops with his friends and neighbors.  He was most known for his “sweet corn” and took great pride in growing Podsednic pecans. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who adored and provided for his family.
