Doris Gilmore Obituary

Doris Gilmore, 82, of Whitney, Texas passed away on November 9, 2019. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall, 106 Tree Shadow Lane, Whitney, Texas with Richard Lindsey officiating.

Doris Jean Anz was born on March 3, 1937 to Hugo Edward Anz and Ethel Linberg Anz. She grew up on the family farm in Clifton, Texas along with her two brothers Billy Joe and Hugo Jr. They worked hard but played hard too on the beautiful land along Bee Creek. Her cousins fondly remember trips to the farm; good food, fishing, swimming, riding horses, etc.
Doris graduated from Clifton High School in 1955. Not long after, she and a good friend agreed to go on a double date with two Whitney boys that they had met at Womack Hall. When her date had to work, Billie Gene Gilmore, the other guy, asked her out. On February 4, 1956 they were married in Clifton. Two children were born to this union, Teresa and Michael.
Doris was primarily a homemaker but also a helpmate to her husband. They farmed, raised turkeys, and cattle. When Billie Gene started a hay baling business, she drove a tractor and raked hay. She also was an excellent seamstress and loved working in her yard. Many good meals were served from her kitchen including family favorites of chicken and dumplings and the best lemon meringue pie.

On May 23, 1970, Doris was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a beloved active member and attended meetings at the Kingdom Hall in Whitney, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Billy Joe Anz, and her husband Billie Gene Gilmore. Surviving Doris are a daughter, Teresa Bianca and son-in-law Frank Bianca of Whitney, a son, Michael Gilmore of Dallas; a granddaughter, Camille Bianca of Whitney; and brother, Hugo Anz Jr. of Clifton along with nephews, nieces, and many cousins.
