Gordon Wayne Janssen

Gordon Wayne Janssen, 72, of Morgan Texas (formerly of Cedar Falls, Iowa) died Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in Clifton Texas.  The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

Gordon was born on July 16, 1947, in Charles City, Iowa the son of Carl and Louise Zimmerman Janssen.  He married Cynthia Kay Fisher on February 3, 1966.  The couple later divorced.  Of this union two children were born, Leslie Lynn Janssen and Aaron Mark Janssen. 

He served in the United States Navy, being honorably discharged in 1970 and was a Vietnam Vet.  In 1986, he moved to Texas and made his home there for the remainder of his life. 

On July 27, 2015, he married Ann O'Donohue after two decades of being together.  He worked as a maintenance supervisor with Accolade Property Management most of his working career.  An avid football fan, he enjoyed horses, stock car races, motorcycle riding, dancing and spending his spare time outdoors, swimming, boating, camping and gardening. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfathers Howard "Pat" Wright and Charles Anderson; brothers, Elmer and Roger; sisters Geraldine Schultz, JoAnn DeGeus, and Pearl Griffin; and stepson, Craig McCown.

Survivors include his wife Ann Janssen of Morgan, Texas; daughter Leslie Becthold of Nashua, Iowa; son Aaron Janssen of Des Moines, Iowa; stepdaughter Kim Keeney of Duncan, Oklahoma; stepson Scott McCown of Whitney, Texas; sister Doris Hicok, of Mason City, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in Gordon’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
