Harold Shelley Obituary


Harold Adrian Shelley, age 72, of Whitney passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 in West.  The family will hold a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Peoria Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Booth officiating. 

Harold was born in Clifton on January, 10, 1947 to Andrew Darrel and Lena Margaret (Young) Shelley. He was raised in Whitney and graduated Whitney High School in 1965. He served his country in the United States Air Force from January 18, 1966 to February 1, 1969 when he was honorably discharged, he continued to serve in the reserves until 1971. He married Cathy S. Shavalier on September 17, 1977 in Liberty County, Texas. 
Most of his working career he drove a truck, he also worked for Blue Chip Ice in Whitney. Harold enjoyed tinkering with washing machines and lawn mowers and working on trucks. He really enjoyed going to garage sales on the weekends.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the American Legion Post #522 in Whitney.

Preceding him in death was his parents and great-granddaughter, Lilah May Carrington.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Shelley; children; Jennifer Geiger and husband, Karl, Andrew Shelley and wife, Nichole, Michelle Shelley, James Atwell and wife, Dorothee, and Fred Atwell and wife, Sally; brother, Larry Shelley, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild on the way and his pet companion German Shepherd, Colt.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Legion Post #522 , PO Box 1133, Whitney , Texas 76692.
