Linda Ileen Matthews

Linda Ileen Matthews, 72, of Flower Mound, died Monday, January 13, 2020, at Baylor Medical Center. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Ridge Park Cemetery with Rev. Darrel Beggs officiating. A visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Linda was born June 13, 1947, at The Boyd Sanitarium in Hillsboro, Texas, to Willie Mae and Roy Dee Whitlock. She graduated from West High School and attended the University of Dallas. On February 15, 1969, Linda was united in marriage to William Andrew Matthews at the First Baptist Church in West.  Linda started working at Brookhaven Hospital in Farmers Branch in 1979 and then transferred to Trinity Medical in 1985 when it opened. She worked there for 34 years until her illness forced her to retire. Linda was a longtime resident of Leonard, Texas, after Bill (her husband) passed. She loved to watch mystery TV shows and was an avid reader. Linda loved her dog and grandkids. She was a horse enthusiast and pointe ballerina. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Matthews and her parents, Roy and Willie Whitlock.

Survivors include her daughter, Dede and husband, Kelly Walz, of Flower Mound; and her grandchildren, Matthew Walz of Flower Mound and Erin Yager and husband, Jack, of McKinney.

Special thanks to Dr. Melisa Tompkins and the ICU staff at Baylor Carrollton for making her final days as comfortable as possible.
