Richard Brown Obituary

Richard “Dick” Brown, 78, of Whitney, passed away on August 20, 2019, in Waco.   Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Whitney on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Doran Henry and Pastor Jay Morris officiating.  Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors of Whitney are in charge of services.   Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro.   A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.  

Richard was born on September 6, 1940, in Nyesville, Indiana, to Walter and Edna (Larison) Brown.   On February 14, 1982, he married Earlene Arterbury in Van Alstyne, Texas.    He was an engineer for Lockhead-Martin and served his country in the Army National Guard.   A member of First Baptist Church of Whitney, he was also a member of Texas Baptist Men.

Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather and uncle who was loved by everyone.   He enjoyed playing the mandolin and singing at church and nursing homes.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. 

Survivors include his wife, Earlene Brown of Whitney; children, Gregory Brown of Orlando, FL, and Gary Brown and wife, Stephanie of Lucas, TX, two step-sons, Michael Arterbury and wife, Marla of Georgetown, TX and Andrew Arterbury and wife, Kristin of Hewitt, TX; grandchildren, Jason Brown, Justin Brown and Miranda Graham; and step-grandchildren, Jake Arterbury, Emily Arterbury, Timothy Arterbury and Daniel Arterbury; and many nieces and nephews.
