Wyla Jo Radke Tanner, 65, of Malone went home to be with her Lord Thursday morning, August 8, 2019 at her residence.
Mrs. Tanner was born August 1, 1954 in Hillsboro, the daughter of Wylie and Helen Jo Biggers Radke. She grew up in Malone and attended Malone school before graduating from Hubbard High School in 1972. She attended Hill Junior College and Sam Houston State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in education. She later attended Paul Quinn College to obtain her history certification. Wyla returned to Hubbard, teaching and coaching for six years before joining the U.S. Army June 6, 1983. After leaving the Army, she married Doyle Tanner in Malone June 17, 1989. He preceded her in death September 29, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Keith Radke. She loved animals and at her passing owned six dogs and six cats. Animal rescues were her passion.
Survivors include: her 12 fur babies, several cousins and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with Pastor Joe Ardy officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Church cemetery north of Malone. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 at Marshall & Marshall in Hillsboro. Mrs. Tanner will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

A celebration of life gathering will follow burial at Frog Branch Saloon in downtown Malone.
