Alfred Owen

Alfred Lee Owen, 58, of Whitney passed away on April 24, 2006 in a Temple hospital. He was the son of William Owen and Martha McMahan Owen, born and raised in Whitney. He was a decorated Viet Nam Veteran. Alfred was also a highly decorated Dallas Police Department officer and served with the department for over 20 years. He served as Post Commander of VFW Post #8571 during 1978-1979, District Commander of #29 during 1980-1981, District Adjuctant #29 during 2000-2001 and 2002-2003, Post #8571 Quartermaster during 2002-2002 and 2003-2004. Preceding him in death were his father, William Owen and brother, Michael J. Owen. Survivors include his mother, Martha Haynes of Whitney; children, Marcy Butschek, Suzanne Jackson and Michelle Guzman all of Giddings; sister, Patty Talamentez of Plano and 5 grandchildren.
