Alice Delia Rhea, from Osceola, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 2, 2024. She was 83 years old. Visitation will be at Marshall & Marshall, 2495 Corsicana Hwy, Hillsboro TX 76645 on March 11, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, immediately followed by services at 2:00 pm. Graveside service to follow at the Itasca Cemetery.
Alice, better known as Delia or Meme, was born on March 21, 1940, to John and Vera (Daly) Dennehy in Fort Worth, TX .She grew up in Pantego, TX, alongside her brother, John, her sisters Mary Jo, Vera, Jean and Celia, graduated from Arlington High School in 1958. She worked at Southwestern Bell for a short time when a young man showed up at her door. She ended up marrying that young man. She and Weldon Crawford Rhea were married on December 27, 1959. They did some traveling while Weldon was in the Coast Guard, having their first two children, John and Joe in California, and then coming back to Osceola to have Leslie and Mark. They moved back to Arlington for a short time, and then returned to finally settle in Osceola, TX in 1972, where she continued to be a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and precious to everyone that met her.
She is remembered as a sweet woman who was a great mother, wife, and Meme. She enjoyed collecting elephants, playing games such as Skip Bo and Yahtzee, and enjoyed playing slot machines from time to time. She loved fishing and was a really good cook. Her family was her main priority, first and foremost.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her great granddaughter Ryann, son in law Benny Lamson, brother in law Richard Humphries, sister in law Frankie Dennehy, sister Vera Cantrell, sister Jean Foster, sister Cecelia Watson, brother in law Richard (Namen) Watson.
She is survived by a family that loves her very much: husband of 64 years, Weldon Rhea, son John Rhea and wife Monika, son Joseph Rhea and wife Sherra, daughter Leslie Lamson, son Mark Rhea and Susan, and daughter in law Lynette Rhea. Sister Mary Jo Humphries, and brother John W. Dennehy Jr. Grandchildren Rowdy, John Wesley, and Colt Rhea, Misty Pettit and husband Robert, Cheyenne Ledbetter and husband Rocky, Sierra Brackenridge and husband Austin, Christina Reyna, Hannah Gonzalez and husband Eddie, Andrew Velder and wife Katie.
Great grandchildren Keagan, Zane, Granger, Naeomi, Tyler, Joey, Jolynn, Rick, Addison, Lainey, Margot, and Rori, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, in-laws, and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Homestead Nursing Home in Itasca for the great care Meme received, as well as Community Healthcare of Texas.
Pallbearers are Andrew Velder, Robert Pettit, Rocky Ledbetter, Austin Brackenridge, Eddie Gonzalez, Rowdy Rhea, John Wesley Rhea, and Colt Rhea. Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Griffith, Joey Gonzalez, Keagan Pettit, Zane Pettit, Granger Pettit, Rick Ledbetter, and Charlie Byford.
