Billy Weldon Kruger, 67, of Abbott passed away Monday, February 7, 2022, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2022, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Vaughan Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2022, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be livestreamed via Marshal & Marshall Funeral Directors website, www.marshallandmarshallfd.com, under Mr. Kruger’s obit page.
Billy was born February 8, 1954, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Bill and Doris Ruth (Skidmore) Kruger. He graduated from Lanier High School in Austin, Texas, in 1972. He was united in marriage to JoAnna Janda on November 4, 1978, and she preceded him in death on June 22, 2005.
Billy enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, farming, welding, gardening, country music, watching old westerns, taking care of his horses and chickens, cooking steaks on Saturday nights, hunting trips, “rendezvous” with the guys, and spending time with his family and grandkids who he thought the world of. He was an avid Baylor Bear and Dallas Cowboy fan. He was a man of many trades throughout his life. He worked in farming, carpentry, mechanics, welding, and maintenance. Billy retired from Hillsboro ISD Maintenance Department in June 2019.
He was a member of the Southside Church of Christ in Hillsboro, Texas.
Preceding him in death were his father, Bill Kruger; wife, JoAnna Kruger; and grandparents Odell & Doris (Hoyle) Skidmore and Herbert & Marie (Honeycutt) Kruger.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Matt Burrow of Abbott; son, Kyle Kruger of Abbott; mother, Doris Ruth Kruger of Mineral Wells; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Roy Bowman of Mineral Wells; grandkids, Kane Kruger and Lexi Jo Burrow; brother-in-law, Ted Kostohryz; uncle, Robert Skidmore; cousin, Robbie Skidmore; fiancée, Karen Kolar; his faithful dog, Gus; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
