Carolyn Jean Stoker

Carolyn Jean Stoker of Hillsboro Texas breathed her last earthly breath peacefully, just before midnight on Friday, July 4th, 2025. Her four daughters, her brothers and sister, and extended family would like to express their gratitude to the local community, who surrounded both Carolyn and her late husband Larry Stoker, as they knitted together a happy and meaningful life in Hill county.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at 2 pm at the Heights Church, located at 1945 Old Brandon Road in Hillsboro, Texas.

Born on May 1st, 1946, to Novie and David Earl Reese, Carolyn attended and graduated from Hillsboro schools, along with two brothers and three sisters. She married the love of her life—Larry Stoker of Brandon, Texas, in July of 1965. She owned a beauty shop in Hillsboro until she turned her focus to raising a family with Larry, which included: Candice, Lynette, Kelli and Lauren, whose birthdays were spread across 20 years. Carolyn was a dedicated and principled wife, mother, homemaker and homeschool teacher. Through the years she also assisted and gave support to her husband Larry’s occupations in farming and construction. She lovingly cared for her own mother, as well as Larry’s mother and father, offering steadfast support and compassion during the later years of their lives. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing and laugh and enjoy life to the fullest.

Carolyn’s surviving immediate family includes two brothers: Harry Reese and wife Patti, Nathan Byars of the Dallas area, sister Barbara Morrison of Austin, and four daughters: Candice Evans and husband David of Lumberton, Lynette Hearrell and husband Raymond of Hillsboro, Kelli Stoker and Dustin of Austin, and Lauren Lloyd and husband Stefan of White Bluff near Whitney. Her grandchildren include Jonathan, Joshua and Joanna Evans, Alex Patton, Olivia and Stella Lloyd and great-grandchildren Jyah, Jerome and Elise; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents David Earl Reece and Novie Goodman, and her sisters Peggy Reece and Judith Crump.
