Charles Don Rape, born on April 9, 1948, in Whitney, Texas, to Tommie Lester and Beulah May (Wolfe) Rape, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, and friend, Don's life was characterized by his unwavering dedication to those he loved and the quiet strength with which he approached the world.
Don spent his formative years in Blum and attended school in Blum. He exhibited a strong sense of responsibility from a young age, which carried through to his service in the United States Army from December 1967 to December 1969. After returning home, he embarked on a varied and fulfilling career, contributing to Texas Midland Telephone Co., the Santa Fe Shops, Rubbermaid, and the maintenance team at White Bluff Resort. His commitment to the community continued with his work for the Blum Independent School District, where he served not only in maintenance but also as a bus driver. He was also a skilled carpenter.
On May 3, 1968, he united in marriage to Linda Jean in Rural Johnson County, Texas, forming a partnership built on love, respect, and shared values. Together, they raised a family that he cherished deeply. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Rape; his son, Darren Rape, and wife Wendy; his daughter, Chrystal Gum, and husband Joey; his brother, John Rape, and wife Wanda; his sister-in-law, Harriet Rape; and Aunt Ruby Hadley. He also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who held him dear.
He was a member of First Baptist Blum since childhood. A man of quiet faith and conviction, Don had a deep respect for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He found immense joy in activities such as yard work and feeding Darren's cows, all while embracing God's creation. An avid fisherman and sports enthusiast, particularly fond of the Texas Rangers, he found solace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life.
Don was known for his ability to fix anything, often in a functional yet unconventional manner. He led by example, demonstrating steadfast determination and a powerful work ethic. His love for his family was evident in all he did, as he always prioritized their well-being.
Preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Randy Rape, Don's legacy of love, faith, and hardworking spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
Visitation will be held on February 27, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, Texas. A funeral service will take place the following day, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at Blum Cemetery at 12:15 PM. The family invites all who knew Don to join them in celebrating his remarkable life.
