Charles W. (Charlie) Brown

Charles W. (Charlie) Brown, 86, of Hillsboro passed away from natural causes on October 22, 2021.   Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Charles was born September 18, 1935, in Charleston, TN, to James F. and Stella Brown.  He was a life member of the Optimist Club and was president of the Hillsboro Chapter for many years.  He served Hillsboro in many compacities including being Santa at Christmas for Kids.  Charlie coached little league baseball as well as announced games.

Charlie served his country in the United States Armed Forces, retiring from AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange Service) after 27 years of dedicated service.  He was a member of Line Street United Methodist Church in Hillsboro.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Seely and the Hill Regional staff on Station One for their dedicated service.

Charlie was preceded in death by his son, James William Brown; parents, James and Stella Brown; sisters, Maybelle Cason and Carolyn Chambers; and brothers, Jim Brown and David Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joan Allen Brown; sons, Allen Brown of Hillsboro, Lynn Brown of Lufkin, and Randy Brown of Waco; daughter, Carletta Brown of Hillsboro; daughter-in-law, Tammy Brown of Waco; grandchildren, Kayla Brown of Fort Worth, Stephen and Lauren Brown of Waco, Kaelub Brown serving in the US Navy, Jayden Brown of Nacogdoches, and Brett and Lyndsie Shafer of Palestine; great-grandchildren, Syra and Nova Brown of Waco and Cammie and Cayson Shafer of Palestine; sister, Barbara Stanley of Cleveland, TN; brothers, Ray Brown of Tony, AL and Raymond Brown of Robbins, TN; sister-in-law, Joyce Brown of Robbins, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
