Christopher Jack (CJ) Hicks Jr., age 38, passed away on January 8, 2023. A memorial service will be held on January 28, 2023, at White Bluff Resort, in Whitney, Texas. The service will begin at 3:00 pm CT at White Bluff Chapel, located at 1072 White Bluff Drive, Whitney, Texas 76692. Following the service, the family will hold a celebration of life at the Lighthouse Pub, located at 1000 White Bluff Dr. Whitney, Texas 76692.
CJ was born on October 8, 1984, to Chris and Beverly Hicks in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Shortly after, they moved to Carrollton, Texas, where his best friend and little brother, Ben, was born.
CJ participated in a range of different sports throughout his years in school, including soccer, basketball, football and pole vaulting. After graduating from Hebron High School in 2003, he attended MMI in Florida.
In April 2012, CJ and his wife Nikki welcomed their son, Lane. CJ adored being a father. He introduced Lane to his passion for the outdoors, where he truly thrived. An avid hunter, the woods and lake were his second home. He also loved fishing, golfing and wakesurfing.
In August 2017, in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, CJ and his brother rushed to Houston to assist in search and rescue efforts for victims trapped in the floodwaters. If you were lucky enough to know CJ, this was no surprise. His friends and family knew him as the person who would give you the shirt off his back. A solid and genuine soul, his comfort and camaraderie with those around him was instantaneous and long-lasting. His hugs, smiles, and laughter were beautiful, one-of-a-kind- as was the incredible bond and respect he shared with his brother. The love in his heart for his family- son, mom and pops- was extraordinary.
In time, we will remember not just that CJ has passed, but that CJ lived.
CJ is predeceased by his grandparents, Jean and Jack Hicks and Dell and Paul Willingham.
CJ is survived by his parents, Chris and Beverly Hicks; brother, Ben of Whitney, Texas; wife, Nikki and son Lane of The Colony, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins .
In lieu of flowers, donations in CJ's name can be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, or the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
