Chrystal Irene Lancaster, a loving daughter, devoted mother, and cherished friend, gained her wings on July 29, 2025, surrounded by what was most important to her—her family. Born on May 20, 1980, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Raymond Earl Cox and Judy Gaye Smith. When Chrystal was just 5 years old, her family made the journey to Texas, where she lived in various cities before settling in Whitney in 2010.
In Whitney, Chrystal and her mother realized their dream by opening Texas Great Country Cafe. Their passion for baking created a warm and inviting atmosphere, reflecting the love they infused into every dish. This passion for baking was not just a business venture; it was a cherished tradition passed down from her mother, which Chrystal embraced from an early age.
Beyond her culinary endeavors, Chrystal found joy in quilting alongside her Aunt Becky, further intertwining her family's legacy in fabric and creativity. However, her greatest delight came in the moments spent with her beloved family, where laughter and love abound. Chrystal had a unique gift for making those around her feel valued. She loved with her whole heart, never hesitating to offer a helping hand to those in need, always greeting everyone with a genuine smile that lit up the room.
Chrystal is survived by her mother and best friend, Judy "Smith" Rodriguez, her stepfather, Art Rodriguez, and her father, Raymond Cox. She leaves behind a daughter, Tesla Lancaster, who was the light of her life. Also surviving are her stepbrother, Billy Calk; stepsisters, Kelly Calk and Adriana Reynolds; aunts Becky McNeely and Virginia Walker; uncle Dale Smith; as well as numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends.
The warmth and beauty of Chrystal's spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her. While she was a beautiful person on this side, Heaven has surely gained a beautiful angel.
Visitation will be held on August 4, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, Texas. A funeral service will take place the following day, August 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM, also at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors. Chrystal will be laid to rest on August 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
