Doris Marie Fuchs, 84, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Michael Nemec officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 11, at Hope Lutheran Memorial Park in Buckholts. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Doris was born July 28, 1931 in Bell County to Harvey Alfred and LaVonia (Coley) Finney. She was a graduate of Rogers High School and attended Austin Business College. On November 20, 1949, Doris was united in marriage to Ernest F. Fuchs. She worked at the ASCS office in Cameron as a secretary and at Calvert ISD. The couple moved to Hillsboro, where they owned the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store. Doris also worked as a teacher’s aide in Hillsboro ISD. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, working in the yard, growing flowers, playing dominos, and looking after her grandchildren. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Ernie Fuchs and Gary Fuchs; a grandson, Brandon Fuchs; a sister, LaVerne Lange; and a brother, Delma Finney.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Ernest F. Fuchs of Hillsboro; two sons, Ronald (Ronny) Ray Fuchs and wife, Dana, and Larry Dwayne Fuchs and wife, Pam, all of Hillsboro; daughter-in-law, Terry Fuchs of Temple; two sisters, Freda Chervenka and husband, Glen, of Bryan and Donna Renaud and husband, Marty, of Houston; six grandchildren, Jason Fuchs and wife, Sara, of Rogers, April Mayo and husband, Matt, of Houston, Kristin Schiller and husband, Stephen, of Temple, Bryan Fuchs and wife, Sydney, of San Antonio, Trevor Fuchs of Hillsboro, and Anna Fuchs of Abbott; eleven great-grandchildren, Madeline, Lucas, Caleb, and Eli Fuchs, Celeste and Vivian Mayo, Kendall and Kinsley Schiller, Xavier Fuchs, Gage Fuchs, and Trayse Segura; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 915 Corsicana Hwy., Hillsboro, TX 76645.
