Dorothy Mae (Thompson) Carter

Dorothy Mae Carter, 92, of Hillsboro passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro.  A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Dorothy was born December 2, 1928, in Hillsboro to Gene and Flora (Simmons) Thompson.  She grew up as a tomboy and loved swimming as a teenager.  She was a graduate of Forest High School in Dallas.  Dorothy loved doing genealogy.  Her favorite scripture was 2nd Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Glover; two sisters, Mary Brown and Mildred Holman; and a brother, George Thompson.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Glover; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Betty Harris and Juanita Holgerson; and three brothers, Bill Thompson, John Hughes, and James Hughes.
