Emily Cumins

Emily "Denyse" Cumins, age 73 of Whitney, Texas passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend known for her infectious laugh and giving heart.

Denyse was born February 21, 1952, in Waxahachie, Texas to Ocie Earl (Tommy) and Pauline Wood. She married Thomas Cumins on May 7, 1982. They were happily married for 29 years. Denyse lived in Hill County most of her life. She worked in health care and generously served many members of the community. She loved helping her friends, family, and the people she worked with. She would always give to others even when she had little to give.

Denyse is preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well her brothers Anthony Wayne and Tommy Michael Wood, and special nephew Tommy Michael Horn.

She is survived by her children, Kim Jones and husband Scott, Craig Gatlin and wife Meghann, and Rodney Gatlin and wife LeeAnn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hightower and husband Mason, Brady Jones and wife Aliyah, McKenzie Wright and wife Britney, Wes Gatlin, Rex Gatlin, and her sister Patricia Carley. Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandson Levi Jones along with many nieces, nephews, stepchildren/grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday October 19, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall in Whitney. Graveside service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney.
