Eric Mishler, age 57, of Clifton, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026. Though his passing leaves a deep and lasting sorrow in the hearts of those who loved him, his memory will live on through the laughter he shared, the loyalty he showed, and the countless moments that will forever be cherished by family and friends.
Eric proudly served his country as a Navy Seabee from 1995 to 2003. A man of strong convictions and steadfast dedication, he approached his duties with diligence and took pride in serving something greater than himself. He carried the lessons, discipline, and honor of his military service with him long after his years in uniform. He was equally steadfast in protecting those he loved, holding firmly to his beliefs and to the values that shaped his life. In recognition of his service, he was awarded [military award to be added.
Those who knew Eric best will remember a man who knew how to find joy in life and share it with others. He had a natural sense of humor and a gift for bringing laughter into a room, often through a well-timed joke, a good story, or simply his unmistakable personality. He treasured time spent with family and friends, finding happiness in their company and in the familiar moments that, in time, become our most precious memories. Beneath his humor and strong-willed nature was a man whose faith guided him through life’s challenges and inspired the kindness and generosity he extended to others.
Above all else, Eric’s greatest love was his daughter, Taylor. She was his whole world, and being her father was the role he cherished most. The love he held for her was immeasurable, and the bond they shared was among the most precious parts of his life. Though his absence will leave an ache that words cannot fully express, the love he gave her will remain a lasting part of her life, carried in her heart and in the memories they made together.
Eric leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a lifetime of memories that will be held close in the days and years ahead. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Taylor Mishler, and his mother, Vickie Goar Kemp; his father, Samuel Mishler; his brother and sister-in-law, Codie and Janet Mishler; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Morgan and Colin Andreas, and Samantha and Quinn Willis; his nieces, Kayley, Oakland, and Allie; his nephew, Kellin; and his great-niece, Emory. He is also survived by his cousins, Levon Raulston, Ruth Miller, and Paula Burgess, along with numerous other cousins and dear friends who were more like family.
Though Eric’s time here has come to an end, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the memories he leaves behind will not be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will remain a lasting presence in the hearts of those who carry his love forward.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Home, with Brother Eddie officiating. Military honors will be rendered in recognition of Eric’s honorable service to his country. Interment will follow at Smith-Bend Coon Creek Cemetery in Whitney, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Navy Seabee Veterans of America or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Siblings Farewell
For those who knew him, our brother Eric Mishler has shucked his mortal coil and headed on to what comes next. We've been struggling to reconcile with this as he and we have led very different lives for many years. We always made time to see each other when opportunity presented, but life has a way of becoming full...
Eric was three years younger than the oldest of us. He relished his time in the Navy Seabees, and we wish he had been able to carry that further. We view him as having been unlucky in love, but it didn't trouble him. He was happy to be wherever he was.
We siblings all inherited strong opinions. Our opinions differed, but we never quarreled over that difference. After developing diabetes, and not doing so well with the changes that require, Eric lost one foot to the condition. His days had become quiet and simple. Meanwhile, the world became more and more complex, and his strong opinions on it worked best from that quiet and simple life.
During your life, you expect to part ways with your grandparents and parents—such is the nature of life. But having to part ways with younger siblings isn't something you expect. He's the first of our quad of siblings to depart. Our struggle is that we worried about him, but he led his life the way he wanted, and was content. He was happy in a life that we would have felt trapped in. His life was the result of enjoying the joys of the present over the restrictions of tomorrow. So, from his view, he succeeded in carrying his views of the world to the very end. Eric lived for today. We will miss our banter at the holidays.
He was a great brother, and we are so damn glad we managed to reconnect and get even closer over the years. We’re going to miss him forever. We can still hear his completely infectious laugh—the kind he was never shy to unleash, especially during our countless card games. Rest peacefully, our brother.
