Ethel A. Bailey, 97, of Whitney, passed away on October 15, 2014, at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 17, 2014, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Burial will take place at 2:00 PM, on Monday, October 20, 2014, at New Hope Cemetery in Center, Texas.
Ethel was born on September 18, 1917, in Milam County, to William Ernest and Ina Bell (Thomas) Latham. She worked for the Postex Cotton Mills in Post for about 15 years as a seamstress. In 1938, she married William Martin Bailey and he preceded her in death on January 4, 1978. One of the things she enjoyed was making quilts and she made many quilts over the years. She also loved to shop. She attended Towash Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Martin Wesley Bailey and Douglas Glenn Bailey.
She is survived by her son, Gary Bailey of Whitney; daughter-in-law, Clydell Bailey of Conroe; three grandchildren, Phillip Bailey, Cameron Bailey, and Margie Gates all of Conroe; three great-grandchildren, Audrey Bailey, Allen Clay Bailey and Lee Wise all of Conroe; a brother Anthony Wayne Latham of Slaton; and several nieces and nephews.
