Evelyn Louise Satterfield (Russell), age 88, of Blum, Texas, unexpectedly joined our Lord in Heaven on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
A funeral service will take place at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 13, 2024, at Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro, with Pastor Darrel Beggs officiating. A burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Born on February 7, 1936, to Ernest and Alice (Jones) Russell in Ebony, Texas, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings: Alton, Joe, Ines, Estelle, Pauline, Helen and Bobbie. Evelyn graduated from Mullin High School in 1953 and worked various jobs over the years, always staying close to her Mama and always being available to take care of others. Whether friends or family, you had a home with Evelyn. She married the love of her life, Clifford James Satterfield, on July 13, 1964, and they put down roots in Irving, Texas, buying their first home and receiving Christ into their lives that same year. In 1968 they completed their family by welcoming their son, Clifford James Satterfield Jr.
Evelyn’s greatest joy in life was raising her son and working with her husband in the family business. In 1995, they built their dream home in Blum, Texas and quickly became part of the local communities and eventually members of Central Baptist Church of Hillsboro. That same year, the Satterfields were blessed with their first granddaughter, Jordan Satterfield and then doubly blessed in 2000 with the arrival of their second granddaughter, Colby Satterfield. Being a grandmother brought Evelyn much joy and she was often found attending the girls’ school and sport activities. Over the years, the Satterfields built a successful construction and ranching business with Evelyn serving as the backbone. Strict and stern in her position, she will forever be affectionately referred to as “The Secretary.”
Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband of sixty years, Clifford James Satterfield Sr; her devoted son, Clifford James Satterfield Jr; her beautiful granddaughters, Colby Satterfield and Jordan (Satterfield) Strickfaden; her son-in-law Ben Strickfaden; numerous nieces, nephews and their children; and countless friends.
Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, P.O. Box 263, Hillsboro, Texas 76645 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
