Frank Michael "Mickey" Mauzy, born May 9, 1939, in Pilot Knob, Iron County, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was the son of Frank and Helen Mauzy.
Frank Michael, known as "Mickey," to his family and friends, spent his early years in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas before moving to Dallas, Texas, at the age of 13. He attended Sunset High School and Crozier Technical High School before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1956. While serving his country, he completed his high school education at the Naval Training Center in San Diego, California, and received training in electrical and electronic engineering.
Mickey was stationed at the submarine base in New London, Connecticut, and proudly served aboard the USS Hawkins (DDR-873) out of Newport, Rhode Island. During the Cold War, he completed a tour of duty in the Mediterranean Sea, earning two medals and a letter of Engineering Commendation in recognition of his service.
Following his honorable discharge, he remained in Connecticut for a time before returning to Dallas, where he built a career in electrical and electronic engineering. He later founded his own business, Mauzy Machine Tool Co., Inc., reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his craft.
In 1984, Mickey moved to Hillsboro, Texas, where he purchased land and built his home from the ground up. There, he established the Mauzy Ranch in Hill County, raising Brangus cattle and embracing the life he loved. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter and first responder with the Peoria/Woodbury Fire Department.
Mickey had a deep interest in politics, a passion inspired by his mother. He actively campaigned for various county offices. While campaigning for Hill County Tax Collector, he became the only candidate in the State of Texas to qualify as a Reform Party candidate on the November 7, 2000, ballot.
He is survived by his loving wife, Huong Nguyen Mauzy; his daughter, Micki Mauzy Wilson and her husband Scott Wilson; his stepchildren, Jacqui Nguyen, Erik Nguyen, Cassie Nguyen, Angela Nguyen, Cyndi Nguyen, and Elizabeth Nguyen; his grandson, Andy De Leon and fiancé Juliet Coil; his sisters, Judith L. Moore and her husband Dennis Moore, and Barbara L. Klehfoth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Mauzy; his children, Gary L. Mauzy and Michel S. Mauzy; his brothers, Richard Mauzy and John S. Mauzy; and his sisters, Patricia MaGouirk, Janet Mauzy, and Sue Nabors.
Mickey will be remembered for his strength, independence, service to his country and community, and the lasting legacy he built for his family.
