Gary Lynn Pritchett, age 70, passed away at home on June 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Gary was born on April 2, 1956, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Charles and Edna Pritchett. He dedicated his life to serving and helping others throughout his career. Gary first served as a police officer before pursuing his passion for healthcare, earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker College in Dallas and serving his community as a chiropractor. Through his work and his personal life, Gary touched countless lives with his knowledge, compassion, and genuine care for others.
Above all else, Gary was devoted to his family. He will be remembered for his intelligence, quick wit, sense of humor, and the love he shared with those around him. He had a gift for making people laugh and a way of making family and friends feel valued and cared for.
In his free time, Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, and riding motorcycles. Whether spending time outdoors, preparing a meal for loved ones, sharing stories with family and friends, or gathering around a campsite, he found joy in life's simple pleasures and created memories that will be treasured for generations.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Pritchett; his children, Gary Pritchett Jr., Christopher Pritchett, Angie Cook, Mandi Mapes, and Jason Schnake; his grandchildren, Amber Pritchett, Isaac Elam, Naddlee Pritchett, Kristin Pritchett, Charlie Pritchett, Austin Greene, Tyler Greene, Shyann Hannah, and Mackenzie Mapes; eight great-grandchildren; his brothers, Charles Pritchett and his twin brother, Jerry Pritchett; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edna Pritchett, and his sister, Beverly Kaddatz.
Gary's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched as a police officer, chiropractor, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at New Lebanon Cemetery, near Aquilla on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:00 am with Janie Satterwhite officiating, and a visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2026, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.
