Gary Merle York, born February 15, 1956, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, surrounded by loving family, just as he wanted. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vonda Lee York & Raymond C. York, and his brother, Steve York.
Gary’s life was defined by family, friendship, and adventure. He is survived by his children, Jason York, Justin York, Kyle Frank, and Vicky Frizzel, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Merrick, and her husband, Bill Merrick, along with a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who were always close to his heart.
For more than 20 years, Gary was an owner-operator, traveling across the United States in an 18-wheeler. Through his journeys, he collected stories, friendships, and memories, always ready to share a tale that would make you laugh, think, or simply feel connected. His truck was more than a workplace—it was a window to the world, and Gary never missed an opportunity to experience it fully. When he was away from his truck, he was often found ripping up the road on two-wheels. He had a love for all things on wheels, this love passed onto his children, as well.
Gary had a rare gift: he never met a stranger. His warmth, humor, and genuine love for people made him unforgettable. Whether he was sharing a story, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying time with his family, Gary lived with an open heart.
He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved by all whose lives he touched. His legacy is one of kindness, adventure, and unwavering love—a life well-lived and a heart that will never be forgotten.
