Geneva Cosby

Geneva Faye Cosby, age 98, of Mertens, Texas, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, in Fort Worth. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Marshall and Marshall.

She was born April 26, 1927, in Lorenzo, Texas, to Johnnie Houston and Evia (Ard) Stringer.

Geneva was a true Southern Lady. She could drive a cotton trailer, come home and cook dinner, and make a dress if needed. Geneva loved her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, they were the best looking, most talented and smartest children ever. She enjoyed watching sports (all sports) on TV with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Evia Stringer; her husband, Lee Cosby; her son, Terry Cosby; her grandson, Robert Chambers; her great-grandson, Kaden Cosby; and her sister, Juanita May Hart. Geneva is survived by her son, Johnnie Cosby and his wife, Patsy; her daughter, Carolyn Childress; grandchildren, Craig Cosby, Jana Cavness and her husband, Rod, Melissa Cosby, Matt Cosby and his wife, Melissa, and Clay Cosby; and her great grandchild, Klaira Cosby.
