Geraldine “Gerry” Ann Halbert, 81, of Blum, passed away on March 15 2016, at her residence. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors inWhitney.
Gerry was born on March 25, 1934, in Scott City, Kansas, to John Jacob and Bess Milvinna (Haselman) Busenhart. On March 20, 1964, she married Oran Lee “Dick” Halbert in West, Texas.
Her favorite hobby was sewing and she was a seamstress by trade. She and her husband owned and operated Halberts Taxi of Hillsboro for many years. She was an avid collector of crosses and elephants. Gerry was a member of Blum Baptist Church.
She loved her children and doted on her grandbabies. As her grandchildren said, “she was the heart and soul of the family.”
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; daughters, Sarah “Dee Dee” Braswell, Evelyn Allen and Shirley Cox, a son Jesse Halbert, grandsons, Jesse Clint Braswell, Eugene Cox and Troy Allen.
Survivors include her children, Marsha Lynn Pelham of Blum, Terry Jean Land and husband Ellic of Mississippi, Vola Lee Bahl and husband Mike of Blum, Vanessa Ann Laxson also of Blum and Jackie Lee Halbert and wife Gaylynn of Hillsboro. She was grandmother of 20, great-grandmother of 45 and great-great-grandmother of 2 and was also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
