Harry Von Borstel

Harry Von Borstel, 80, died May 19, 2025, at his home in Hillsboro, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. His memorial service will be Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro, Texas.

Harry was born July 26, 1944, in Poughkeepsie, New York to Adolf and Helen Von Borstel. After graduating high school, Harry enlisted and served in the United States Navy before getting his college degree. After graduation, Harry began his life-long career with IBM in New York before moving to Arizona. There he raised his two sons, Jason and Lance, before moving to Texas to continue his career with IBM until retirement. Harry married his current wife, Lisa, in 2003 and moved to Hillsboro where they owned and ran a bed and breakfast until 2018. There he became a charter member of the Hill County Master Gardeners.

He is preceded in death by both his parents, Adolf and Helen, his son Lance, and his grandson Brandon. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; sister Meta (husband Bob); his son, Jason; stepchildren, Sarah and Josh Almond; his grandchildren Dillon (wife Samantha) and Brenden; and great-grandchildren, Ella and Elijah.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The American Cancer Society.
