Hazel (Dugger) Madison passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, in Hillsboro, Texas. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro, Texas. She will lie in state from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Hazel was born on September 1, 1925, in Hill County to C.L. Chris Dugger and Allie (Willis) Dugger. She attended schools in Birome and Chatt, Texas, and graduated from Birome High School. Hazel married William Earl Madison on September 15, 1944, in San Antonio and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2002. After receiving a nursing degree at Hill College, she worked for Dr. Erwin until her retirement. A faithful and active member of First Baptist Church, Hillsboro, where she sang in the choir, she enjoyed being outdoors, working in her garden, tending to her plants, and crocheting. Hazel was also an active member of the Senior Circle group and volunteered at local nursing homes, assisting with the church services and other activities. When she took a break from her volunteering and gardening, she enjoyed eating ice cream, especially butter pecan flavor.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Madison in 1962 and her daughter, Linda Arlington in 1972. Hazel is survived by her grandson, Chris Arlington, great-granddaughter, Brytne Arlington, and several nieces and nephews.
