Biography

Herbert M. Behner, Sr., 76, passed away on January 19, 2012.

Herbert was born in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Milford and Bonnie Ellsworth Behner. He grew up and lived in Ohio most of his life. Herbert retired from the Portage County Sheriff’s Department after 23 ½ years of service and was also a member of American Legion Post #331. He had lived in Whitney for 11 years. On April 8, 2004, he married Dona Hoffer.

Also preceding him in death were his sister, Shirley Hahn; granddaughter, Rebecca Wilson and grandson, Dakota Wilson.

Survivors include is wife, Dona of Whitney; children, Herbert M. Behner, Jr., Synthia Suzelis and husband, Ted, Debbra Sabo and husband, Dan all of Ravenna, Ohio, Jeanette Wilson and husband. Eddie of Kent, Ohio; mother of his children, Ruby Lee Saye and husband, Ray of Diamond, Ohio; sister, Anita Daniels and husband, Rick of Whitney; 35 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
