James Attebery

David "Dave" Attebery, age 82, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, at his home in Hillsboro, Texas. Graveside services will take place at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory Cemetery, officiated by Mike Mizell. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

He was born September 3, 1943, in Pomona, California, to James Alvin "Al" and Velma Estelle (Fenton) Attebery.

He liked to share stories about memories of his family. He loved Blue Bell ice cream. A favorite pastime was watching traffic on Brookshire's parking lot, like his parents did. He enjoyed sitting on the front porch and waving at his friends passing by. No one laughed better at his jokes than he did. As he traveled the United States and Canada experiencing the splendor of God's creation, he was always ready for the next trip.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Velma Attebery; his son, Darren Attebery; and his sister, Sherlyn Alford. Dave is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Darlene; his sons, Michael and wife, Kim Attebery, Bryan and wife, Julie Attebery and Joseph and wife, Betty Stroud; his sister, Beverly Johnson; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
