James Latham Jr

James M. Jim Latham, Jr., 79, of Deltona, FL died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in Florida. Jim was born September 25, 1928, in Hillsboro, TX, where he was raised, the son of James M., Sr. and Katie Payne Latham. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University with degrees in soil science and agronomy. Jim was a retired Director of the USGA Green Section Great Lakes Region, Director of Marketing and Agronomy for the MMSD, World War II Marine veteran and Eagle Scout. His extensive knowledge and expertise in the turf sciences is known and admired worldwide. He will be sorely missed by former colleagues, friends and family, and anyone blessed enough to have had the opportunity to know him. He was a devoted husband of Lois J. Latham for 57 years; much loved father of Kathy Latham and significant other, Tim Jenkinson, Lynne Cassidy and husband, Richard; adored granddaddy of Bradley and Andrew Belfield, Ashley Williams and husband, Chris, and Rachel Cassidy; proud great-granddaddy of Lacey Williams. He is further survived by his sister, Myrna Erwin and nephew, Don Erwin, Jr. Memorials to the American Heart Association, Wee One Foundation, USO, or the charity of your choice are appreciated.
