James (Ronnie) McClure

Ronnie McClure, a cherished member of the Hillsboro community, passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on July 15, 1945, Ronnie led a life characterized by devotion, dedication, and resilience.

After his graduation from Hillsboro High School in 1963, Ronnie answered the call of duty and served his country during a wartime deployment to Vietnam in 1966 and 1967. His service was a testament to his commitment and love for his nation, which he carried with pride throughout his life.

Upon returning home, Ronnie embarked on a new journey and married the love of his life, Jan McClure, on November 4, 1967. Together, they cultivated a life steeped in faith, love, and loyalty. Over the years, Ronnie became a well-respected figure in the Hillsboro community through his work at Hawk & High Grocery & Market. He began as an employee and eventually became the owner, providing opportunity and mentorship to many in the area. His hard work and dedication earned him lasting friendships and respect from those he served.

In the early 1990s, after successfully selling the business, Ronnie devoted his time to caring for his family, parents, and in-laws. He was proud of the life he built and approached each day with gratitude, integrity, and a humble confidence. An avid golfer, he found immense joy on the golf course with friends and in following the great tournaments of a sport he cherished deeply.

Ronnie fought his battle with leukemia with remarkable courage, never allowing his condition to overshadow the warmth and kindness he shared with those around him. He will be remembered not only as a hard-working man but also as a caring father, devoted husband, and a person of quiet strength.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Jan McClure, his son Michael McClure and wife Manda, his brother Billy McClure and wife Sue, and his sisters, Beth Smith and Linda Brooks. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Vernon and Margaret Lucille (McFarlen) McClure, and in-laws Joe and Jeanette Hawkins.

A visitation will be held on November 4, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas. The burial will take place at Ridge Park Cemetery following the service.

Ronnie's legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who loved him and were touched by his kindness and resilience.
