James Walter Thomas, affectionately known as Bill, was born on September 15, 1937, in Bosque County, Texas, to Sidney E. and Maudie (Moore) Thomas. He began his journey in life surrounded by the beauty of his hometown, where he later attended high school. Bill's early years were enriched by the close-knit community that Bosque County provided.
On a beautiful day in Iredell, Texas, Bill married Anita McCoy, marking the beginning of a significant chapter in his life. Though Anita preceded him in death, their bond remained a cherished part of his memory. Following this period, he found companionship with Margie Davison, with whom he later divorced.
Bill had a knack for the automotive industry, skillfully buying and reselling vehicles throughout his career. His passion led him to own a car lot in Red Oak, Texas, where he imbued his work with his dedication and expertise.
Bill passed away on July 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven with love and determination. He is survived by his beloved son, James Michael Thomas, and his daughter, Karen Ann Thomas. His life was further enriched by the presence of two sisters, Ladean Hill and Sue Brooks, who stood by him through the years. In addition, Bill is remembered fondly by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will carry forth his spirit in their lives.
A memorial service in honor of Bill will be held on July 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors located at 201 N Bosque St, Whitney, TX 76692.
As friends and family come together to reflect upon Bill’s life, they will celebrate the love, hard work, and resilience that defined him. His contributions to his family and community will not be forgotten, ensuring that his memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
