Jeffrey Clark Keel, of Whitney, TX, lived a life full of grit, a whole lot of love for his people, and plenty of stories from out on the open road. Born on July 22, 1963, Jeff spent 63 years making his mark before he passed away on September 4, 2026.
Jeff was a man who knew how to work hard and live simply. He spent most of his life behind the wheel as a long-haul truck driver, watching the miles roll by, and he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. But when the engine was turned off and the boots came off, Jeff was at his absolute best doing the things he loved most. Whether he was out fishing, admiring a good knife, hunting, or keeping a quiet soft spot for horses and wolves, Jeff lived life on his own terms. More than anything, though, his favorite place to be was right in the middle of his family, joking around and hanging out with the people who meant the world to him—right down to his dog, Red.
Jeff is now reunited with his father, Ottis Keel, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins who went before him.
He leaves behind a big, tight-knit family who will miss him every single day: his mother, Patsy Keel; his sister, Lynette, and her husband, Glenn Scarbrough; his brother, Clayton, and his wife, Christi Keel; and his children, Cristin Grantham, Chance Keel and his wife, Sarah, Dilian Keel, and Serenity Lipe and her husband, Trevor.
Jeff was an incredibly proud grandfather to his grandsons, Kyle and Landen Keel, and his granddaughters, Haylee Batey, Shilynn, and Jordan Grantham.
He was also a beloved uncle to Lance and his wife, Brooke; Justin and his wife, Katie; Nicholas; Cody and his wife, Denise; Shayla and her husband, Tony; and Josh. He leaves behind great-nieces and great-nephews, Caleb, Aubree, Christa, Lucah, Latham, Lawrence, Gideon, and Waylon, as well as a wide circle of extended family and friends who carry his memory forward.
Jeff didn’t care for fuss or formality, so the best way to honor him is to tell a good story, take care of your people, and maybe cast a line in the water and think of him.
In Memory of Jeffrey, there will be a visitation held from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, September 18, 2026, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home in Whitney, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am Saturday, September 19, 2026. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Garden of Memory.
