Jimmie Mae Harris

Jimmie Mae Harris, 92, passed away Monday, October 5, 2026, in Bedfored, Texas. Funeral services will take place at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory Cemetery, Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to Noon, Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at First Baptist Church.

She was born January 29, 1934, in Tioga, Texas, to Reverend Marion J. and Kittie (Taylor) Adkins. Jimmie grew up in Dallas and was united in marriage to V.A. "Burr" Harris on January 29, 1970, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2014.

Jimmie worked in claims for UFA&G Insurance for twenty years and as a payroll clerk for Mobil Oil for eighteen years. Jimmie was a member of Hillsboro Chapter 769 Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as past matron. She was also an active member of First Baptist Church.

A resident of Hillsboro since 1988, Jimmie was a faithful encourager to her family and friends, an avid Willie Nelson and Elvis Presley fan, and collector of pig memorabilia. She will be remembered by friends as being helpful to those in need of all ages.

She is preceded in death by her parents, V.A. "Burr" and Kittie (Taylor) Adkins; two brothers, Jay and Delbert Adkins; and one sister, Ruby Carender. Survivors include, her brother, Leon Adkins and wife, Sheilah; her sister, Pauline Wade; her stepson, Mark Harris and wife, Becky; two grandchildren, Quinn Harris and Reed Harris, and wife, Mara; three great-grandchildren, Lennon Harris, Iver Harris and Seager Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
