Joan Leonard

Joan Leonard 88, of Joshua passed away Wednesday May 21, 2025, in Covington with her family by her side. Her presence enriched the lives of many, and she will be lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Joan was born to George Henry Wise and Oda Talbot on August 15, 1936, in House, New Mexico.

Joan worked in the banking industry most of her life. She worked for Tucumcari Federal Savings and Loan for many years then retired from there and worked as an accountant for the American Legion Post 19 Conchas Dam, New Mexico. Once fully retired she moved to Texas where she enjoyed spending time with her family, which was her greatest pride. In her down time Joan also loved to bake. Any kind of deserts candy you name it she tried to bake it.

Joan was proceeded in death by her parents George and Oda Wise; her brother, George L. Wise; her husbands, Leroy Leonard and Walter Creed; and her sons, Ronnie Chadwick and Greg Chadwick.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Brandi Chadwick and family of Covington Texas, Dawn Mills and family of Wadesboro, North Carolina, Kaleb Hanna and family of Rio Vista Texas; great-grandchildren, Talyn Rives, Josh Rives and Ethan Mills, all of Covington Texas.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss her dearly. It was her family that brought her great joy. She cherished every moment spent with her sons, granddaughter and great- grandsons creating a legacy of love that will carry on through them.

A celebration of life will be held on a future date.
