A Life Filled with Light: Joann (Boen) Randolph
October 22, 1949 - June 23, 2025

Joann (Boen) Randolph, 75, of West, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waco. A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Trail to The Cross Cowboy Church in Hillsboro, with Pastor Kenny Kennedy officiating. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born on October 22, 1949, in Cleburne, Texas, to Jack and Alma Jo (Crecelius) Taylor, Joann grew up in the small town of Blum. From an early age, she had a spark - a love of laughter, sunshine, and the simple joys of life. She graduated from Hill Junior College with a degree in accounting and soon after began building a life rooted in family, faith and resilience.

On June 26, 1970, Joann married the love of her life, Lynn Boen. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and two beautiful children, Buffy and Brandon. Though Lynn's life was tragically cut short in 1981, Joann's strength and love carried her forward - raising her children with grace and deep devotion.

Professionally, Joann spent most of her career supporting the healthcare industry, bringing care and compassion to everything she did - whether at work, with family, or among friends.

In retirement, Joann leaned into her favorite things - chasing sunshine, slipping on her flip-flops, and savoring every moment that felt like a beach day - even if it wasn't.

Joann wasn't just the life of the party - she was the party. Her laugh was unmistakable, her heart generous, and her spirit as bright as a summer day.

She was a fiercely loving mother, a proud grandmother, a devoted sister, and a loyal friend. To know her was to be welcomed with open arms, a ready hug, and likely a hilarious story - sometimes followed by a picture of Sadieboo, her daughter's beloved pup who never failed to bring a smile to her face.

Her greatest treasures in life were her family and her "Ya-Yas" - her lifelong soul sisters Jane, Mary Ruth, Phyllis and Viva - who shared her love of laughter, friendship, and restaurant adventures.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Taylor and Alma Jo (Crecelius) Taylor; her husband, Gerald Lynn Boen; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Nell Boen; and brothers-in-law Gary Dan Boen and Roger Dell Schronk.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Buffy Prestwood and husband Mike of Blum; her son, Brandon Boen and wife Sara of Mansfield; her cherished grandson, Granger Boen of Chicago, IL; her sister, Cinda Schronk of Hillsboro; stepmother, Ruth Taylor of Cleburne; nieces, Jill Guthrie (Rodney) of Edmond, OK, and Jacelyn Brown (Chris) of Waxahachie; nephew, Jack Schronk (Jessica) of Tomball; great-nieces, Addyson and Graycen Guthrie, Taylor and Makayla Schronk; great-nephews, Jackson and Sawyer Brown - along with many dear friends and extended family who will forever hold her light in their hearts.

Joann's life was a beautiful blend of sun-kissed memories, deep love, and unstoppable joy. Though we will miss her radiant spirit, her warmth and laughter will live on in every shared story, every flip-flop-clad step, and every sunset that reminds us of her love.
