Joe Don Lewis, 78, passed away on July 29, 2025, in Whitney at Whitney Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on March 30, 1947, in Osceola, Texas. He called Woodbury home for many years.
He is survived by daughters, Melissa and her husband, Joe "Jody" Allison of Covington, Miranda and her husband, Bryan Wickliffe of Covington, and Vanessa Lewis of Hillsboro; sisters Reba Bryans of Big Springs, and Linda Stepp of Hillsboro; granddaughters, Sara Allison, Gracie Wickliffe, Lilly Wickliffe, and Michelle Sheets; and great-grandchildren, Zayden Elmore and Teagan Elmore.
He is preceded in death by wife, Linda Pack Lewis; parents, ML Lewis and Etta Mae Brown Lewis; sisters, Parthen Coslett, Mildred Thompson, Wanda Elliot; brother, David Lewis; and grandson, Joey Allison.
He married Linda on July 6, 1966. He proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Sellers DDG-11. Before retiring he was a mechanic for Flowers Construction.
Joe Don loved fishing, hunting, and outdoors. He was quick-witted and loved his family and friends. He is famously quoted saying, "Fine, and how are you?" when no one asked. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with burial to follow at New Woodbury Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6-8 Friday, August 1, 2025. Pallbearers are Davy Lee Thompson, Joe Cvikel, Chris Cvikel, Corey Brown, Chad Brown, and Colton Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Brown, Leon Cvikel, Jimmy Coslett and Juan Reyna.
