John Harold Miller

Our father, John Miller went home to join the Lord on February 9, 2026. He is free of the pain in this world and knows nothing but love and joy in heaven!

John Harold Miller was born February 1, 1938, to Ray and Lillie Miller in McAlester, Oklahoma. As a child he learned the value of working the land for the family. He also learned to appreciate and even enjoy working with tractors. His love for old tractors only grew as he did and was a point of joy later in his life.

A graduate of McAlester High School, John sought his degree in Civil Engineering at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Ok. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, starting in the Fort Worth District. His first large assignment was the cleanup and restructuring of the earthen dam on the east side of Lake Whitney in Texas. His work with the Corps of Engineers eventually took him to Okinawa in 1965 for 4 years and North Dakota for 2 years. He returned to McAlester in 1971 and the family settled in. John was the City Engineer for the City of McAlester for a number of years, worked for Poe and Associates, City of Bartlesville, and, later, Meeco Marina.

He married Midge Brown on September 3, 1960, and had two children. Members of Central Christian Church, he taught his children the love, peace, and strength of the Lord. He remained active in the church, first at Central Christian, and later at Lakewood Christian Church where he was a founding member.

John will have been welcomed into his heavenly home by his parents, Ray and Lillie Miller, various aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his second wife, Norma.

He is survived by his children, Randell Miller of Whitney, Debra Reulecke (Fred) of Whitney, granddaughter Amanda Griffith (Thomas) of Whitney, grandson Garrett Miller (Cody) of Tulsa, OK, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters Shirley Deiker of Edmond, OK, Kimberly Pitner (Cliff) of McAlester, OK, brother Tracey Miller (Sandra) of Portland, OR, nephews and nieces.

Graveside services will be at Whitney Memorial Park, Whitney, Texas on Monday February 16 at 1 p.m. The family will host a memorial service at Lakewood Christian Church, McAlester, Oklahoma on Saturday, March 14 th at 2 p.m.
