Kathie W Diehr, age 84 of 204 Cedar Elm Drive, Whitney, Texas, passed on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Heritage Place Assisted Living in Burleson, Texas. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on February 17, 1942, one of two children of the late Evelyn and Andrew F Welsh.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors' Chapel in Whitney. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney, Texas.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, David B Diehr; son, Erik W Diehr, and daughter-in-law Sherry Diehr of Arlington, Texas; sister Linda (Mrs. Frank) Bonza of Beavercreek, Ohio; nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Kathie was a graduate of Greeneview High School, Jamestown, Oho and attended Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois.
Kathie was employed in a number of positions throughout her lifetime, including Welfare Finance in Xenia, Ohio; Colonies North Elementary School in San Antonio, Texas; Quebedeaux Pontiac in Tucson, Arizona; and Saturn automobile dealerships in Tucson and also in San Jose, California; and Shane Jewelry in San Jose.
The highlights of her career were in service to the YMCA as a program specialist. Her first YMCA assignment was as Pre-school Coordinator of the Joliet YMCA in Illinois; followed by Aquatic Director of the Northwest Branch YMCA in San Antonio, Texas; Senior Program Director of the Waco Family YMCA in Texas; Aquatic Director at the Lighthouse/City Branch YMCA in Tucson, Arizona; Membership Director of the Centrat Branch of the YMCA of Santa Clara County in San Jose, California.
She was active as a member of several chapters of the Association of Professional Directors of the YMCA during her career and a member of the YMCA Alumni since her retirement.
In retirement, Kathie conducted Kathie's Fitness Classes in several locations in Whitney for twenty-five years from 2001 through May 2025.
Travel, bicycling, gardening, sailing, power boating, photography, sewing, and knitting were major interests and pursuits.
Kathie was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Cleburne. She retired to Whitney, Texas in 2000, where she and David enjoyed a wonderful retirement.
