Kim L. Kennedy

Kimberly Kennedy, 62, of Covington, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Kimberly was born on April 22, 1963, in Cleburne, Texas, to Jimmy and Martha Basye. She grew up in Itasca, Texas, where she graduated from Itasca High School. In 1981, she married James Kennedy, and together they had four children and built a life rooted in love, family, and commitment in Covington. She was a nurse for 30 years, caring for others with the same compassion and dedication she showed her family.

Her greatest joy in life was being a nana. She loved to spoil her grandchildren, bargain shop, play dominoes—particularly 42—take trips to the casino with her sisters, and listen to rock and roll. Her family will forever remember her for these simple joys, her sense of fun, and the way she made time together feel special. Her favorite holiday was Christmas.

She is survived by her husband, James Kennedy; her son, Robert Kennedy, and wife Caty of Granbury; her daughter, Jessica David and husband Kelly of Cleburne; her daughter, April Mullins and husband Keith of Grandview; her son, Danny Kennedy, and wife Christina of Granbury; and her adopted son Brandon Fitzpatrick of Fort Worth. She is also survived by her father, Jimmy Basye of Itasca; her sisters, Karen Baker of Itasca and Kelli Marak of Houston; and her brother, Keith Basye of Itasca. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Raeleigh, Trinity, Matthew, Marcus, Zion, Keira, Kolton, Deacon, Aliza, Cadence, Marilynne, Aislinn, and Amaya; and one great-grandchild, Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Basye; her sister-in-law, Kathy Ryan; her brothers-in-law, Danny Kennedy, Randy Kennedy, Alfred Kennedy, and Jimmy Baker; and her father-in-law, George Kennedy.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, March 9, 2026, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Covington Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Kimberly’s life and legacy.
