Kristine Lorene Green

Kristine Lorene Green, 53, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away on March 16, 2026, after a 6-year battle with cancer. Her funeral will be held on March 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro.

Kristine (Kristi) was born on January 27, 1973, to Kenneth and Ruby Varnon in Hillsboro Texas. Kristi graduated from Burleson high school in 1991. After graduating from high school, she went on to TCJC where she graduated with an associate degree in accounting.

Kristi devoted her life to raising her two children, Houston Martin and Madison DeFazio whom she loved and cherished with her whole heart. Raising her children was her whole world. She always made every sporting event for Houston. She led a girl scout troop in Whitney, Texas for Madison's age group. She raised her children to be kind, strong, and resilient. She took pride in raising her children. She gave them unconditional love and support. They have created many cherished memories throughout the years.

On January 9, 2013, she married the love of her life James Green. It was raining that day and James suggested they get married. Kristi was eager and they married that day in Tom and Doris McNutt's living room. They spent thirteen beautiful years together. Kristi was a hard-working farmer alongside her husband James. She had a passion and love for farming. She took much pride in her work on the farm. She loved to get out in her tractor and plow the fields. In 2020, she was diagnosed with cancer and had to take a step back from farming. She still made sure her and James's home life on the farm was taken care of. Kristi and James also shared a passion of adopting dogs and taking in stray cats. Their love for animals allowed them to care for so many animals throughout the years.

Kristi is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Boyd and Wilma Varnon, her maternal grandparents RD and Lorene Weeks with whom she shared a close relationship, her Uncle Eddy Weeks, Uncle Jack Moffet, Uncle Bobby Morgan, and her sister-in-law Jackie Green.

Kristi is survived by her husband James Green, parents Kenneth and Ruby Varnon, son Houston Martin and his spouse Amanda Tribou, daughter Madison DeFazio and spouse Tyler DeFazio, her brother Gary Atchison and spouse Cheryl Atchison, her step children Amy Zapata and spouse Emiliano Zapata, Devon Steele and spouse Eric Busby, Justin Green and spouse Jessica Green, Dana Sue Behringer, her grandchildren Blake and Lyla Martin, Audree Martin, Avery and Axel DeFazio, Lauren, Emiliano JR, and Horatio Zapata, Hallie Steele and spouse Colton Carlock, Taylor Delapaz and spouse Jesus Delapaz, Addison and Colton Steele, Brecklynn and Tristlynn Behringer, Peyton Anderson, Olivia, Amelia, Isla, and Justin Green JR, her great grandchild Hudson Carlock, her Aunt Martha Weeks, Aunt Mary Weeks, Uncle John and spouse Penny Weeks, Aunt Doris and spouse Tom McNutt, and Aunt Barbara.

Kristi's generosity and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. The relationships and memories she has made will stand the test of time. She will truly be missed by all that were blessed to have met her.
