Lena Davis

Lena Davis, 76, of Hillsboro, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on August 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 21, 2026, at Central Baptist Church, Hillsboro, with burial to follow at Ridge Park Cemetery, Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro.

Lena was born December 30, 1949, in Meridian, Texas, the second youngest of five spirited Martins, to parents W.W. and Vera Martin.

Lena was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, hairdresser, gardener, and woman of deep, steadfast faith. She graduated from Joshua High School, class of 1968. In 1967, she met the man of her dreams. For fifty-eight years she and J. Lynn built a life and legacy of love together.

She received her driver's license, cosmetology license, and marriage license in August of 1968. She worked as a hairdresser for four years while her husband, J. Lynn, got his business degree. They raised their two children in New Braunfels and when they graduated, she and J. Lynn bought the ranch in Milford that became the magical place of their grandchildren's childhoods. Church and family were the axis Lena's life turned on. Lena was a cherished and active member of New Braunfels First Baptist and then Central Baptist Church of Hillsboro, Texas. She dearly loved her family. Her greatest pride and joy was being "Nana." She was happiest when surrounded by and celebrating those she loved.

Her home was the center of abundant food and fellowship. Her heart was to serve and bring people together. A patient, faithful tender of plants and people, she loved to watch things grow. She was generous with her time, gifts, encouragement, and most of all, her love. She lived every day like tomorrow wasn't promised and loved with all of her heart every day.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W.W. and Vera Martin, and sisters, Dorothy Montgomery and Linda Smith.

She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-eight years, J. Lynn Davis; brothers Darrell Martin and wife, Doris, and Euel Martin; sisters-in-law, Susie Mackey and Sherri Appleton and husband, Richard. Lena is also survived by her daughter Gina Shiflet and husband, David, and son Todd Davis and wife, Elizabeth; eight grandchildren, Emily Velez and husband, Justin, J. Michael Shiflet and wife, Mary, Andrew, Kathlena, Calvin, and Isabella Shiflet, and Madeline and Everett Davis; and four great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn Shiflet, Aria and Lorelei Velez, and Yennefer Shiflet, who will forever cherish the love and memories they shared with their Nana.

Lena's legacy of faith, generosity, and unconditional love will live on through her family and all those blessed to have known her.
