Leona Guynes

Leona Ruth Guynes , 65, of Springville, Tennessee passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2014, at New Woodbury Cemetery in Woodbury with Rev. Jay Morris officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Leona was born April 24, 1949 to Elton Ludy and Eula Marie (Thompson) Coldiron in Houston. Leona was a wonderful mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a homemaker for years and enjoyed cooking, writing letters and doing crafts. As a teenager, she served as a candy striper in local hospitals. Upon retiring from WalMart, Leona moved to Tennessee where she enjoyed her retirement years living near a lake. After being diagnosed with cancer, she often said, “I will either be healed here or healed when I go home; either way, I will be okay.” She will be remembered by many friends and family as a sweet, generous woman who kept a positive spirit throughout her battle with cancer.

Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Guynes and Terry Guynes; brothers, Danny Coldiron and Ricky Ballard; sister, Kerrie Morris; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hall and Jade Guynes
