On Saturday, June 7, 2025, Linda Jane (Degner) Lilley, age 81, of Hillsboro, loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2025, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Pastor Michael Nemec officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Linda was born May 26, 1944, in Bynum, TX, to Albert and Ella (Radke) Degner and was a graduate of Bynum High School. June 5, 1971, was one of the happiest days of her life as she was united in marriage to love of her life, Gene Lilley. The happy couple were married for 47 years at the time of Gene's passing on February 9, 2019.
Linda and Gene lived a life filled with many memories and so much love. They were everyone's honorary grandparents. If there were children present, they were held and loved on by Linda and Gene. They were members of the Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, where Linda would often have a bag full of snacks to give to the children in exchange for a simple but meaningful hug. Linda loved unconditionally and if she loved you, she considered you hers. Her most treasured times were when she was surrounded by family.
Linda worked as a bookkeeper most of her life. She and Gene owned and operated Napa Auto Parts store in Hillsboro for 17 years and together they worked tirelessly to help the citizens of Hill County when it came to needing farm or automotive parts. Following retirement from the store, Linda and Gene volunteered at Hill Regional Hospital.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Morris Lee Degner.
Those left to cherish Linda's memory include her son, Roger Lilley and wife, Kristal, of Midlothian; daughter, Tricia Sokurenko and husband, Bill, of West Chester, PA; step-son, Dennis Lilley and wife, Deanie, of Georgetown; grandchildren, Amber Peoples and husband, Kyle, Ella Grace Sokurenko, and Lauren Elizabeth Sokurenko; many other relatives; and a host of dear friends.
Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 915 Corsicana Hwy., Hillsboro, TX 76645.
