Linda Kay Van Y, 74, of Whitney, passed away on December 28, 2014, in Keller. Funeral services will be held at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors chapel in Whitney at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 31, 2014, with Rev. Dell Glenn of the Whitney Fellowship at the Forum, officiating. Burial will follow at Lamb Cemetery, near Gatesville. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at the funeral home.

Linda was born on January 4, 1940, in Waco, to Byron and Birdie (Knight) Lawson.
On November 4, 1967, she married Joseph Van Y in Niagara Falls, New York. She lived in Bedford from 1972 until 1998 when she moved to Gatesville where she lived from 1998-2009 before moving to Waco and living there from 2009 until 2012 when she moved to Whitney.

She worked as a teacher’s aid in early childhood development for the HEB Independent School District for 15 years.

She enjoyed shopping. An avid bird lover, she also enjoyed her flowers.

She was so proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved her family so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Diana Gibson.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Van Y, of Whitney; children, Kathy Chambers and husband, Steve, of Keller, Christy Burford and husband, Paul of Whitney, and David Allen and wife, Megan, of Gatesville; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Randy Gibson of Lakeland, TN; and loving pet companions, Peaches and Pat.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
