Louise Rohn Bartek Ponewash, age 89, of Whitney, Texas, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, music, and deep love for her family.
Louise was born on March 10, 1937, in Cranfills Gap, Texas. She made her home in Whitney, Texas, where she devoted her life to her family, her church, and her community. A dedicated homemaker, Louise created a warm and welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and music.
She was a woman of strong faith, raised Lutheran, and remained deeply committed to her relationship with Jesus Christ throughout her life. Louise was a devoted member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney, where she shared her gifts by playing the organ and piano and blessing others with her beautiful singing voice. Church gatherings, worship, and fellowship were at the heart of her life.
Louise was first married to Raymond Bartek, with whom she shared three sons. Raymond preceded her in death at the age of 65. She later married David Ponewash, joining the two families together in love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bartek; her second husband, Dave Ponewash; her son, Darrell Ray; her grandson, Tyson Bartek; her stepson, Tim Ponewash; her siblings Elvis and Joe Rohne; and her parents, Ingmar Rohne and Ada Mae Rohne.
Louise is lovingly remembered by her sons, Larry Don Bartek, his wife Michelle Bartek, and Brian Allan Bartek and his wife Shannon Moneymaker Bartek; her stepchildren Denise Bloomquist and her husband Mark Bloomquist, and Darren Ponewash and his wife Antoinette Ponewash; her grandchildren Jessi Bartek, Stacy Bartek Nantz, Colton Bartek, Dakota Bartek, Adam Bartek, Jordyn Moneymaker, Joshua Ponewash, Zachary Ponewash, Ashlynn Bloomquist, Alisha Bloomquist, Matthew Ponewash, Jordon Ponewash, and Sarah Ponewash; great-grandchildren, Kate Bartek and Jack Bartek.
Louise will be remembered for her kind heart, her unwavering faith, her love of music, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her life was a testament to devotion to her Savior, her family, and her church.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney, Texas. Processional will follow to Olaf Rock Church, Cranfills Gap, immediately after the funeral service for Burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney, Texas, in honor of Louise's life and faith.
Louise's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
