Luke Cody Cain Bednar

Luke Cody Cain Bednar, 17, of Brandon gained his wings as an Angel of God’s on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Bro. Keith Manning officiating. Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, at the funeral home.

Luke was born December 4, 2002, in Mesquite to Jake Bednar, of Brandon, and Melissa (Kaufman) Johnson, of Blum. He was a Junior at Bynum High School and a beloved friend to many. He enjoyed playing football, doing crazy things to get reactions out of people, and most of all helping others.

He had a very loving and nurturing heart and always had to take care of others, especially children. He had a dream to go off to Texas A&M to study medicine and ultimately become a Pediatric Oncologist. This dream started at a very young age and was inspired by his 2 year old cousin, Hope, who gained her wings after a battle with Leukemia.

He was preceded in death by his cousin, Hope Decker; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Bednar; paternal great-grandfather, Harry Bednar; maternal great-grandmother, Kathy Kaufman; and step great-grandmother, Betty Applegate.

He is survived by his father, Jake Bednar; mother and stepfather, Melissa and Waylon Johnson; sisters, Kelee Bednar and Taylor Johnson; paternal grandparents, Roxanne and Mark Neiman and William and Karen Bednar; maternal grandparents, Michelle and Willis Smith; step grandparents, Michael and Michelle Mayhand; and multiple great grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
